28 on the 28th

So it's official.  I'm old.  I mean I used to think that you weren't old until about 90, but turning 28 feels pretty old.  People tell me that this bday is my golden one, because I am turning 28 on the 28th of February.  I do see it as a milestone, but not sure I am extremely happy about it.  I wanted to share a couple of pictures from my party with my fabulously amazing friends!  I had so much fun and I want to personally thank everyone who came out to celebrate my birth with me!  If you know me at all, I have kind of always been obsessed with my birthday and have made it into a full month of celebrating lavishly and buying a super cute new outfit to wear.  I hope you all approve of this year's outfit.  I will be blogging pics of the full outfit soon, but details are below.  Thanks for reading everyone!

Sweater Skirt

Sweater: Lauren Conrad (Kohl's)   Skirt: Anthropologie   Peter Pan Collar: H&M   Tights: The Limited   Ring: H&M   Watch: Michael Kors   Bracelet: DSW   Shoes: Rocket Dog (DSW)

So I clearly was channeling Anthropologie for this outfit.  The skirt definitely helped inspire me.  So I bought this skirt on sale with my birthday coupon Anthro sent me.  I loved the sweater material and that it was high waisted.  I feel like high waisted skirts are so slimming.  This Lauren Conrad sweater looks like it could be from Anthropologie, and is just simple enough that it works with the busy print of the skirt.  I thought I would jazz the outfit up with my favorite jeweled collar.  Speaking of favorite jewelry, how cool is this bracelet from DSW?  I love the safety pins incorporated with jewels, so play off the hard and soft effect.  And lastly, we have to talk about these heels from Rocket Dog.  How perfect are they with this outfit?  This weather has been so insane, so sorry for the indoor shoot!  P.S. my bday is Thursday!  I celebrated this weekend with my fabulous friends, since I am out of town this weekend in Philadelphia for my cousin's baby shower!  I will share some pics from the party on Thursday! :)

So this is probably my favorite photo shoot to date.  I love walking around the Short North and Goodale Park.  I had been searching for a sequin sleeve blazer just like this, and I couldn't believe that I found this blazer on sale at Target for $20!!!  This is the best time to shop!  The deals are seriously crazy!  I had also seen polka dot sheer dresses and blouses just like this for double or triple the price.  Old Navy has just really been winning me over lately!  I also liked that the polka dots on this dress were more cream colored than white, so I was able to pair this outfit with my favorite glitter booties from Wanted!  Enough about me, how awesome does my photographer Colin look?  Can you believe his whole outfit is from H&M!  I must say that there definitely aren't as many awesome retailers for Men as there are for Women.  However, H&M is amazing with Men's clothing and giving trendy, yet affordable pieces.  Honestly, they have been lacking a bit in the Women's clothing for me.  What is your favorite place to shop for trendy, affordable pieces?

So after having this blog for almost a year, I have been trying to scope out new locations for pictures.  Colin and I came across this cool area in historic Bexley that looked very reminiscent of a Secret Garden.  So I was trying to mix hard and soft with this look.  I love mixing floral feminine lacy textures with leather and studs.  I just bought these booties and I am so obsessed!  These new smaller pin studs are the new trend for shoes opposed to the rougher spiky stud.  I actually am welcoming the change.  I thought I could only wear this floral skirt in the spring, but I am trying to push the limits with my spring wardrobe and find ways to work things into whatever the current season is.  Colin was trying to get me to pull off some of these model poses, and I tried my best, but to be honest I felt kinda ridiculous.  But of course he is such a fabulous photographer, that I don't look that silly!  It felt like senior pictures all over again!  One day I will share with you my senior pic model poses.  They are pretty epic.

So it was windy out today!  Crazy how pretty much my entire outfit is composed of Old Navy pieces.  This is my favorite new chambray shirt!  The anchors are so perfect for this spring's nautical trend!  I do feel like each spring the nautical theme is always around.  I have been wanting to get a military jacket, and I liked how basic this one was from Old Navy.  The price didn't hurt either.  One of my favorite bloggers Sincerely Jules, rocks the military jacket oh so well.  These are three of my favorite looks that she has showcasing the trend.  See those outfits herehere, and here.  I also jumped on board with the showing off your socks trend from another one of my favorite bloggers Kendi Everday.  Check out some of her outfits here and here.   I kinda love this sock trend, because I have some pretty cool prints that I don't have to hide anymore!  So last part of this outfit that I have to mention is this crossbody bag from Urban.  I love jewels, sparkly things, beads, chains, sequins, basically the more bling the better.  Am I right?
